Hello there, friends and fans!
It’s June 30, 2025– and here are some things that happened in the meantime!
This Is The Current State Of Things:
General News:What a perfectly horrible week this has been. Last week I told you about my upcoming feedback meeting with my Professor on Thursday afternoon. I arranged with my manager to give me an hour alone in private in my office for that purpose, and all was sorted and well. Imagine my shock, despair, anger and outrage when Thursday afternoon came – and I found myself enduring an unexpected, surprise evaluation at exactly that time! “Work comes first!” I was told with blunt glibness. And with that wonderfully honorable and compassionate pronouncement ringing in my ears, unable to engage the call for my session, I excused myself for a moment to send my Professor a note of apology, and to mention that my employer had gone back on their word yet again, and that I was very, very sorry – while the evaluators persisted in talking to me over and above what I was doing. This meant the note I sent was also overly abrupt and disjointed as well. I was furious! ![]()
About an hour later, I was able to see them out, and got an email reply from my Prof, saying it’s alright and that we could reschedule for another day when I’m at home – during working hours of course, as the Prof doesn’t communicate outside of office hours. This is out of concern and respect for her student’s private time, which is both amazingly understanding and also somewhat frustrating at the same time!
At any rate, long story short, after a little backing and forthing. we’re left at “sometime next week”. Bear in mind that this was to give me feedback on my Proposal, what needs to be changed before submission, whether I’m on the right track, or if I not, what changes are required – or if I have to completely redraft it from scratch again. So now I’ll have to wait another week probably, just to have that closure, and know what to do next. Lovely.
On top of that, I’ve had a nasty bladder infection for a few days, which I’ve just had to self-medicate and deal with on my own without being able to go see a doctor about it, and – predictibly, have had to just carry on grinding away at the slave wheel without a shred of interest or concern from any of my co-workers. On Friday, for example, I spent half the day in another pointless meeting – doodling variations on the theme of “in 2 years, none of this shit will matter anymore” in my diary. That said, this slog won’t last forever – and the sooner I get my PhD, the sooner I can make future plans – that won’t involve any of the above for much longer. ![]()
Current Writing Projects: With my time now fully occupied with research assignments from varsity, I’m sorry to say: NONE. I’ll have no time available for writing fiction for the immediate future! At least not until I’ve handed in my PhD thesis sometime next year! (It still doesn’t sound real to me, but yes, it really is happening!) So yes, I decided to give it a rest until I’m done with that whole PhD project. In the meantime, if you like, you can catch up on books you may have missed (there are over 40 of them!) or keep up by bookmarking What’s Brewing?
There we are, all caught up! ![]()
Other Stuff:
Nothing this week – maybe later?
The End:
As always, I’ll keep you posted about any new developments. Until then, be kind, be strong, take care of each other, and all the best!
Thanks to all of you for your support (you know who you are)! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
